The Solata is an ultra-light and high quality solar-powered task lamp designed as a supplementary light source. It performs exceptionally well for tasks where light is required from specific angles. Suitable as a desk lamp for study, it can also be used to illuminate all household and work tasks.

Light Performance
The Solata provides up to 4 hours of bright light on a full charge and uses the world's most efficient LEDs. At a mere weight of 160g, it is 5 - 6 times brighter than a kerosene lantern. The Solata allows all families, regardless of their access to grid electricity, to enjoy premium LED light in a portable and low cost package.

Charging Options
The Solata can be charged by solar panels or electricity. It is perfect for customers in regions with lower sunlight levels and less than 15 hours electricity per day:
- Solar Charging: A solar panel is included with every Solata. The lamp will provide 4 hours of bright light with 6 hours of charge under direct sunlight. Warning: use of the solar panel with any other electronics (cell phones) may cause damage to those electronics.
- AC Charging: AC charging is also an option with a 6V DC adaptor. The Solata is designed for use with 1mm plug Nokia cell phone chargers (not included). A full charge only takes 4 - 5 hours.

Product Design
The Solata brings together portability and sturdiness in an affordable package. It is light enough to be easily carried by a child. Its flexible goose-neck provides the user with a 360-degree option of directing the light and also functions as a lamp handle. The base provides stability on most surfaces and has a keyhole to offer the option of hanging the lamp from a wall hook. When not in use, the lamp's gooseneck wraps around itself for compact storage. The Solata is designed and patented in the USA.

3Stopped working after 2 weeks  Jan 04, 2010

It was great at first. It is bright and useful as night light and for the emergency (as long as you have charged it in the sun).But now after 2 weeks, it stopped charging and I will have to return the item. I might ask for the exchange because I really like the concept of solar powered lights.

This is a great little solar light. Definately bright enough to read with comfortably. The flexible stem makes it very versatile -- you can direct it down to read with, or point it up at the ceiling to illuminate a whole room. Perfect to have on hand for power-outages. You can give one to each of the kids and they can carry it around as their own personal reading/game playing/teethbrushing light. Use the dim setting, and set the light out as a nightlight. Don't be put off at how small this light is, it still does a great job.
