I bought to use at out remote property in the Sierras. There is an enclosed shower room to use this in and a stream 40' away to get water. Found out it was best to fill a 5 gal bucket with cold stream water in the morning and let it set in the sun during the day (with about half of it shade time) before an evening shower, otherwise you have to let the heated water recirculate to reach a comfortable temp. So far we have taken 8 showers each for two of us (16 total) on the same tank of propane and set of batteries. Turned all the way up it makes the water very warm, almost too hot for me. Five gallons of water is easily enough for two showers. What a treat to take a hot shower at the end of the day. Worked well beyond my expectations. Just hope it holds up for the long run, but it seems like it will so far! Love it!

It won't turn cold water hot but it will turn warm water hot. But for the dollar you just drop it in water and light it.
Some downsides... you cannot really adjust the heat well. Also, you cannot turn off the pump and the heater at the same time. Picture you want hot water and then want to turn it off for a second. The water in the coils is VERY hot when you turn the pump back on. A better combination mechanism here would be ideal but would probably add too much to the price.
it is very compact and a great way to make hot water.

I own a 25' sailboat that has no shower and no heat exchanger for hot water, so I purchased this in order to be able to take hot showers on longer cruises. It performs better than I expected! I hooked it into the low pressure pump that provides water to my galley sink, so I don't have to use the provided pump (and therefor don't have to buy batteries for it either). It is perfect! It provides a nice warm shower, and I even use it for instant hot water for washing dishes (much faster than heating water in a pot and uses about the same amount of fuel). The only special connector I used was a valve to control water flow (the slower the flow the hotter the water) so that I wouldn't send too much pressure to the water heater. I would imagine it would also work great for camping as well, but I don't use it for that and can't comment.
I would recommend this product for it's advertised purpose, and for the use I put it to as well. I think it's a great product, and Amazon had the lowest price I could find for it.

This is a must for anyone not totally into the camping environment. A super hot shower to start the day was awesome. The only problem I had was that when I set the propane on full blast..the water was a little too hot for the supplied hoses and they melted at the ends. Also, the price on Amazon was far better than others.
