Good Little Water Heater, With Manageable Issues Apr 14, 2008
By Shamus Macgillicuddy It's a pretty good little water heater. It has a few issues, but nothing awful. First off, I wouldn't exactly call it a "shower" in any kind of water-pressure sense.
It works like this - You put the pump end in your water source. It would be best if that were a container (as opposed to a lake or stream). Here's why - Unless you have the water source on-level or above the output nozzle, the pressure is next to nothing. (Seriously.) However, with your water source above the shower head, the pressure is okay - similar to one of those light handle sprayers on a kitchen sink. Nothing amazing, but it does the job.
The heating unit sits on top of your 1lb propane canister, which sits in an included base. I expected it to be a kind of tippy, but it's not bad. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if I knocked the thing over via the movement of the stiff hose. The unit increases the water temp 30 to 40 degrees, so one great suggestion is putting both the intake and the output into a container together - recycling the water until it is warm enough for you.
That said, it works, it is affordable, and Zodi has a pretty good name. One of the reasons that I chose this one over the Coleman is that this one takes 4 D-Cell batteries to run the pump, rather than Coleman's rechargeable internal battery.

Nothng better than a hot shower! Nov 15, 2007
By Paul Claxton This Zodi Hot Tap travel shower is a great way to make nice hot showers out in the wilderness. The water can also be used for cleaning dishes. I went with the single burner as the weather here rarely gets cold enough to use the double burner model. If you expect the input water to be chilly get the double burner model. On cool mornings here I simply recycle the water letting the hot water warm the cold input water until there is a batch ready to go. The electric pump should not be shut off while the burner is running so you simply recycle the water back into the source tub while you lather up. If you like to dry camp out of the back of your SUV or truck this is a really nice comfort. It would also make a nice emergency shower for places that might lose city water.

Excellent portable shower: (but) Houston We Have a Leak Mar 12, 2009
By Conifer I'm quite happy with my Zodi camp shower. As a previous poster mentioned it's best to use the recirculation method to get the water warm, but even without doing so you definitely get warm water and a surprisingly good flow of water, especially if you are using new alkaline batteries. I tested mine last night outside, temperature low 50s, using about 3 gallons in a large bucket, recirculating for a couple of minutes prior to showering. That proved to be a generous supply of water (and indeed over-kill) and the run-time was well over 5 minutes, plenty of time to get soaped up and feel the warm water. I could have used a lot less water and still got the job done. This shower is a superb investment for those who like to camp. Your overall morale and feeling of refreshment after showering will make you glad you brought this thing along, no doubt about it. I can't wait to use it up in the Sierra this Spring and Summer. You can get the water exceedingly hot if you use the recirculating method with a smaller volume of water. I'm going to get a large water cooler for this unit. The business-end of the unit is a series of 10 copper coils in the propane burner box; that alone provides excellent heat transfer. No need for an auxiliary lighter. The piezoelectric starter is push-button sure-start. addendum: after using my portable shower a few times, the hose came lose from the copper heat unit tube. Because Zodi only supplies a non-adjustable hose-clamp I was unable to get the hose tightened to the unit. I had to buy new hose clamps--happened on both ends of hose. Problem is where the hose joins the copper tubes, the metal shield had to be ground with a grinder to allow the new hose clamp to work on the stiff tubing. They should use better tubing to ensure a life-long connection. Other than that I'm impressed with the shower, but leaking hoses are simply inexcusable.

Exactly What I Expected Feb 09, 2010
By C. Spiegelman This thing is actually pretty cool. You will not get the same pressure as your home shower but it would be foolish to expect it. The pressure that you do get is more than enough to shower with. I found that the 4 gallon container that it comes with is not large enough for me (I am a large man who is overly hygienic)but this was fixed quite simply by purchasing a 10 gallon (40 quart) cooler to use as a tank. The one I purchased allowed the unit and case to rest in perfectly. The only negative thing I have to say about this is that the hoses are too short but that's a pretty minor point. I would not pay the $150 Amazon price though. For those of you who are Costco members, you can purchase this on their website (just search for Zodi) for $100. All and all this is a great little shower.

Heaven Jun 11, 2009
By Lauri Abed Blissful hot showers on a camping trip can be yours! We bought this for our week long trip to the mountains with eight people and it worked great. Everyone took a relaxing shower every day and we only used one bottle of fuel. The system was easy to set up and use. We made two adjustments that helped: we brought along a big rubber tub to hold plenty of water, and we allowed the shower to run hot water back into the tub for 5 minutes each day to get the water warmer. Using very cold mountain water resulted in a lukewarm shower, but running it a bit first made for a nice warm one.
