5Good as a diversion controller or cheap solar charge controller  Sep 01, 2011

The C-40 has had a long history as a good inexpensive solar charge controller. Most folks today use them as a diversion load controller for wind or hydro systems and not for solar. With solar there is about a 30% loss with this type of controller, as compared to a much more expensive MPPT charge controller. The pros are; its very reasonable in price and it's almost bullet proof.
