Excellent item Sep 21, 2009

This is an excellent knife and is absolutely the sharpest knife I have ever owned and maintains a razors edge without constantly sharpening the only problem I had was mine didn't come with batteries and amazon is no help but I called tool logic and they sent me 2 sets of batteries within a few days. I have no complaints at all the features of the knife they are excellent and I would highly recmend this knife to any one looking for a quality knife for backpacking or camping situations.

Nice looking knife, but has some drawbacks May 14, 2010
By PDT I bought this knife because I liked the idea of the multi-tasking features of this knife: a flash light, fire starter, and whistle. But, it suffers from the downfall of all multi-taskers: it performs all the tasks, but none very well.
The build is heavy duty, and I would not hesitate to take this knife on a camping or hunting trip - in my tool box or kept in a vehicle. This knife did not work well for me clipped to the inside of my jeans pocket for everyday use - it is large and bulky, so forget about using the pocket for anything bedsides carrying the knife. The clip is too far towards the middle of the knife causing the knife to stick up high out of the pocket, which makes it easily noticed and I found it to be in the way.
I could not get the fire-starter to start a fire to save my life. I've used magnesium matches before, but this one just didn't work. It sparked, but not enough make straw or dry shavings to light or smolder. Maybe I got a bad one?
The flashlight is bright, but I found it easy turn on by accident in my pocket. The whistle works, but it is not as loud an emergency whistle should be.
The knife looks great and feels good in your hand. It is heavy duty and relatively well made (especially compared to the Tool Logic SL3 Firesteel knife), but I prefer a knife I can carry with me and use, and I found I was leaving this one home more and more because of its bulk, weight, and awkward carry in my pocket.
Bottom line, this is a nice-looking well-made knife with some interesting extra features of questionable value, but probably isn't the best knife for daily carry due to it's ergonomics and bulk.

By James D. Albright aThis is an excellent knife...I have bought two...one for my daughter after I had one for myself for a while....the fire starter is very handy and works well..........what it does need is a sheath.....I found one that fits nicely.......GERBER 8762 SHEATH

AWESOME!!! Mar 09, 2011
By hardester Smaller than I thought it would be and that was good because I was a little worried about buying it because I thought it might be too bulky. It fits perfectly in the little pocket above the regular pocket on the right side of my jeans. The magnesium works great after you scrape it a few times to get the protective coating off of it. I love it. If anyone is wondering what the whistle sounds like, mine sounds just like a smoke detector alarm. Also, from the pictures it looked like it didn't have the magnesium scraper on the top back end of the knife on this model, well it does and that is how you strike the magnesium to make the spark.

Awesome Knife May 20, 2010
By L. Uhrig I ordered this with the Gerber 8762 sheath which fits nicely. Both items came in one shipment and arrived about a week early. The knife should come with it's own sheath but the tin it comes in is the perfect size for making a pocket survival kit...quite a bit bigger than an Altoids tin but still fits easily in the back pocket of some Levi's. The flashlight works great and seems of very good quality and is easy to turn on/off (an extra battery is included too). The flint striker also works great, releasing a shower of sparks when scraped with the back edge of the knife as shown (takes a couple scrapes to get the coating off first). The flashlight/striker fits very snug in the knife. The whistle on the end of the knife also works very good. Overall, very pleased with this knife and would definately recommend it.
