At almost 8 1/2 quarts capacity it will hold food for large family meals, catered events or pot luck dinners and is great for canning or making stocks and soup bases. The outer insulated thermal container is made of a vacuum insulated steel pot (one of the best insulators available), with a removable plastic insulated lid that sits loosely on top of the cooker with the weight of the lid used to hold the heat in for up to 6 hours above 160F temperatures, after the contents have been brought to a good boil. The inner pot comes with a durable stainless steel lid and heavy 18-8 stainless steel pot with a thick carbon steel clad base on the bottom of the pot with two handles for easy placement of a hot pot.
