5Last flashlight I'll ever own  Jan 18, 2008
By P. Moore "plm209"
This is the ultimate outdoorsman's flashlight. It's lightweight and extremely bright. As a scoutmaster and camper, it pierces the darkness and is great for on trail hiking during the night. The fact that it is LED should not deter anyone, as it is brighter than a 4D Maglite and fits in the palm of your hand. I keep it in my truck at all times for emergency purposes. The grip has a great texture, and the lock out tailcap is great for preventing accidental operation.

The only downfalls are that it takes only lithium batteries (I suggest ordering the SureFire brand) which can get a little expensive, and that the flashlight tends to roll due to a round design, which can pose positioning problems.

You will not be disappointed if you purchase this tool.

5great product, great customer service  Nov 29, 2006
By David Wenkel
This light offers an excellent balance between intensity and battery life. However, the button on the back broke quite easily. The customer service was excellent (without any wait time) and they sent a new switch via UPS without any hassle.

5another great light from surefire  Mar 24, 2006
By Tony T. Kao "Holycow"
This is another great light from Surefire after they redesigned the head. The beam is more concentrated and is able to shine further than the previous model and is brighter too. Light is small so you can carry on daily bases the only thing is the price is on the high end compare to the other brand at the same size but the performance can't be compared. Best light in the class. Recently I also got Surefire U2, another amazing light from Surefire. If you want to just get one light, U2 is the one.

5The last flashlight I will ever buy  Jan 07, 2008
By Neil
As with most people, I've bought lots of flashlights over the years. Recently I purchased a SureFire E2L Outdoorsman since I do a lot of camping and I need something that I can depend on and is durable enough to take into the woods.

The E2L is expensive, but is incredibly well made. I'd go as far as saying that there is not a better constructed flashlight on the planet. It uses a LED to generate the light meaning that there is no "bulb" to burn out. The light output is phenomenal. I cannot believe that such a small device can generate so much light. It is rated at 45 lumens which is VERY bright (twice as bright as a typical two D-sized battery flashlight). Also, the batteries are very affordable and will last something like 12 - 14 hours without getting progressively dim, before the batteries lose their charge.

In summary, stop buying crappy flashlights every few years that turn out to be junk and break too easily. The E2L is indestructible and will provide you with more than enough light for any type of outdoor activity. I also purchased the optional red filter which allows you to preserve your "night vision" (your pupils won't lose their dilation at night) so you can read maps or do whatever without having your eyes readjust to the darkness.
