Extremely impressed Dec 29, 2010

I was pretty skeptical about the LED version of this light, having owned an old halogen model for many years. LED technology seems a bit hit or miss with certain products, flashlights being one of them. Well, Streamlight really figured it out with their new "C4" LED technology. Simply put, this flashlight not only surprised me, but it blew me away. I was first of all definitely not expecting the amazing amount of light output from an LED vs a halogen, boy was I sure wrong. This thing is like holding a car hi-beam headlight in your hand. I was also not expecting such a tightly focused beam, but the extremely deep reflector takes care of that. Even at great distances the beam remains a tightly focused, perfect circle. I opted to go with the AA alkaline model, figuring I could save some money by reusing my old model's battery and charger, and to be honest I also really like the idea of being able to use readily available standard AA batteries. The flashlight actually weighs a bit less with the AA's vs the NiCad, not really enough to make much difference, but worth mentioning I suppose.

I currently own six of these. You will not find a better flashlight at any price. I have used them in the fire service and I've used them for general illumination. They are truly outstanding, and you can't break them. Forget about the others...I've already bought them and no longer use them. This is indeed the best!

I bought this light after I bought the maglight led. I use this light to let my dogs out at night and it lights up the whole yard and shines a long way. My Dad took it up north deer hunting and he and 3 other guys agreed this was the best light they had ever used or seen. It is very bright and lights up a long distance. The beam is amazing. I would recommend it to others and if I have to buy another flashlight for any reason it will be this one.
Nov. 2011 Update: Flashlight still going strong. It has been dropped a few times from 5 feet and no problems. This light REALLY cuts through fog really well, the thick stuff too, never seen anything like it. It is very bright and the clip on the back comes in very handy too as I can clip to my coat and pants. After seeing mine, a few of my relatives have bought one too and they love it. It is definately my go to light even with the LED Maglight, the Fenix E21 tactical light (which is also great for the size) and I also have the LED mini mag. Just a great light all around.

I've carried a personal Streamlight for years, been in a lot of fires with it and it has never failed me. The new LED technology is awesome. Batteries last much longer and I think the color of the emitted light is better in smoke. I look forward to many more years of use.

The flashlight itself is quite impressive -- a narrow, powerful beam that cuts through smoke very well. My only complaint is that the flashlight arrived with the AA batteries pre-installed and they were almost dead. Based on my assumption that they were good, I was initially very disappointed with the power of the beam. When I replaced the batteries with fresh ones I was completely blown away with the difference. I don't know why the batteries are pre-installed or how long the flashlight had been in inventory. Amazon needs to be a little more careful.
