 Good spacers, but some effort to work in some devices Nov 18, 2010

These eneloop spacers are decent quality, unlike some of the other battery adapter brands. However, they may not work for your application with out some messing around. First, when you slide the AA battery in, the positive end slides inside four little arms to make contact with the positive terminal of the adapter. On a couple of these spacers that I have, you need to use a little screwdriver to move one of the arms back so that the battery will slide in - no big deal. The bottom, negative end of the spacer is just open, so that the AA battery will slip out if it is not firmly retained by a spring or terminal inside your device. Another potential problem is that some of the springs designed to hold D batteries will have an inner coil that is too big to hold the AA battery base (as in many flashlights). The solution to this is to use a thin, flat washer taped on to the adapter with masking tape. Obviously, just tape the outer edges of the washer to the spacer, so you still get electrical contact with the spring. The standard washer size you will need is 1-1/4" inches diameter with a 3/8" or less diameter hole. You can find these at most hardware stores.

While it is important to understand that these will not put out as much juice as a true D-Cell battery, the fact is, many cheap batteries you but are nothing more than AA batteries in the shell of a D. THey work great for what they'e suposed to do and fit perfectly.

Free from "D" cells Aug 01, 2010

This product worked great in the one application for which I still needed "D" size cells. I replaced the alkalines in my air mattress pumps with NiMH and NiZn batteries (I don't mix the types, I have two pumps). The construction is adequate and they hold the AA cells firmly in place.

I was given a baby swing that takes 5 D cell batteries..... Baby likes to swing & D's are so expensive. These adapters work great with my rechargable AA batteries Rayovac Rechargeable NiMH Batteries, AA-size, 4-count Carded Pack (Pack of 2) . Baby can now swing as long as she'd like.... when baby's happy, mommy's happy!

Great product. I'm comparing them with the ones that came with LaCrosse Charger, and these are easier to use because are from 1 piece, instead of 2 as the other ones from LaCrosse. The advantage of the ones from LaCrosse is that they have C-size adapters inside, so basically you have both D and C-size adapters. If you are looking for only D-size adapters, I highly recommend these ones. Price is OK for 8 pcs.
