Must have to have either a very sharp knife or a greater deal of force, the attached metal thing no matter how hard I push it down on the stem it only seems to take the black paint off. I've seen survival shows use this, but I'm going to have to keep trying because I can't get any spark at all. I'm sure it's me not being strong enough to get the right pressure it needs, I'd hate to need this in an emergency. Ho hum... I'll keep working at it.

well I bought this and about 5 minutes of striking it the metal magnesium part of this tool broke off. so in conclusion I think it was bad however it could have just been the one i received was a default
