Simple Small Stove is Stupendous Aug 06, 2009
By W. Royce
"><--} That's All"
I purchased this stove for a solo bike tour I took because it was small. I was very impressed with its capabilities and size. Plus the entire kit nests into the pot. Does not work very good with Iso-Alcohol as I tested and rarely would a flame burn longer than a minute. Methyl Alcohol is ideal but I decided to try using Heet (a gas line anti-freeze) based on some suggestions I read online. It worked fantastic and was a bit more convenient than purchasing a vat of Methyl Alcohol. This setup also comes with the simmer ring which give you a little control of the output and can also be used to extinguish the stove. At first I thought the pot holder would be flimsy but it is more than adequate.

awesome Mar 03, 2009
By T. A. Penick One of my best purchases. Rock solid. Entire cook kit weighs 11.6 oz
and everything (burner, wind screen / pot stand, pot handle) fits in the bowl.
Teflon coated skillet is the lid. And if you're really weight conscious
replace the brass burner with aluminum to get down to 8oz.
Can store fuel in the stove so for a short trip where you're
only cooking once can just fill it up and not take a fuel bottle.
Pot is grooved so it fits on the stand and won't fall off on un-level
surfaces.
Simmer ring to knock the flame back.
Just a really well designed system.

It does the job! Apr 05, 2009
By Robert Perkins
"Professor Gadget"
I do have other Stoves with more power and faster boil times, but I do like the simplicity of ease and operation, the 28 has as with all the Trangia systems most everything you need, just open it up and start cooking, lid/skillet, bowl/pot, burner, stand/mini windsheild, it will simmer, just takes some getting use to, as with all things you should expermint with at home before going off camping, lots of fun and the onlyy noise you will likely hear is the water boiling or the sauce bubbling, have fun.
Have had mine about 5 years

Absolutely idiot proof and reliable! Jan 02, 2011
By SneakyZeke This is my second purchase, the 1st one I gave away to a teenager scrounging backpacking gear.
I don't backpack anymore but still wanted a back up stove, one I could take in my jeep without worrying about petroleum leaking or pressurized tanks going KABOOM! This stove is absolutely "No Maintenence Required!" It can sit for years and still fire up on the first light! Lotz of different alcohol fuels are available if you know what you are looking for. The holder, pans and burner are 1st rate construction and materials. Only drawback is the limited time of burn, around 25 minutes. If you want to simmer cook a pot of beans this could be a drawback. So I bought several burners and now can just keep on cooking. Haven't done beans yet but rice and the coffee pot are a snap! I don't intend to use this just for heating water for freezed dried foods. Take it from this Former Marine who use to cook with Trioxin on a C-rations "hobo stove" the Trangia is "Ay Numbah Wun!"

Great Little Stove Dec 30, 2009
By Noel C. Beck This is a great little stove for the outdoor minimalist. Purchase some denatured alcohol to go with the stove, and you have everything you need to cook small meals along the trail. I've boiled water with my mini Trangia in heavy snow and winds...no problem, just warm the fuel a little. I own faster stoves, including a Jetboil, but I personally prefer the Trangia for its simplicity in construction and relatively cheap fuel source. It's a bit more "hands on" than other stoves as there are no control valves or igniters to control or extinguish the flame, but I'm comfortable working with the Trangia; actually I'm more comfortable around this type of stove than the newer gas stoves. The Trangia system is a solid stove that is widely used and time proven. I'm very happy with mine.
