Trangia mini stove set Jul 28, 2010 This cookset is perfect for a single hiker or two for a short trip. Non stick frypan/lid is an added bonus and adds to the features, all in all a very nice setup.
Nice small kit Jul 15, 2010 I can't seem to set the simmer ring (tab opened) on the burner when it is in the windscreen; the curved edges of the screen keep the ring from sitting flush on the burner. This is a minor quibble for me, as I tend to stick to things that need to boil rather than simmer.
Denatured alcohol is available really cheap anywhere you might buy house paint. I have a big can that has lasted me for years. I take an 8oz. plastic squeeze bottle of fuel for a long weekend and usually come home with some fuel.
Alcohol burners in general are very susceptible to wind, so be mindful of where / how you set the stove up, to minimize wind.
This is by far the easiest cook set I've ever owned (though these days I'm more likely to carry the liberty mountain kit inside a larger pot so I can share). Fill the burner 2/3 full, strike a match, and you're on your way. This is a very nice kit for solo cooking.
Good stove May 26, 2010 I use this as a back up..I burn 151 rum or everclear and it works fine... The only issue I have is that the aluminum pot turned brown/black boiling tap water. I've read you have to "season" aluminum similar to cast iron.

I'm a convert Mar 15, 2010 Really inexpensive, easy to maintain, packs light and easily. I have used lots of stoves over the years. This little one delivers. The windscreen is more of a stand for the cook pot. Pack a bit of foil and that's not a big deal. The handle works surprisingly well. The simmer ring is ok as long as you are making soup. Anything thicker (and even some soups) will wind up with hotspots. The pan works well as a lid. Its really not big enough for anything else. Perfect for day trips where you just want some coffee or tea. Even a hot meal.

Annoyed Jan 09, 2010 If I can justify buying a better product then I will but owning a Mini Trangia means it's the end of stove buying for lightweight use. Mostly it's used to boil water and it does that fine. Sure there are lots of things that are similar and maybe incrementally better but why bother. Like most, I've got a few stoves and often find gas bottles hard to obtain so it becomes a no brainer when choosing a stove for remote outdoor use. The only thing missing is a wind shield but foil solves that problem.
