A Perfect Match Feb 06, 2011
By B. Fischer Hey, call me fanatic, but when it comes to taking care of my love machine (My Car) I take the responsibility very seriously. I've had her for nearly 8-years now and there are only two minor scratches, which go on completely unnoticed. Other than that, she looks like new with a showroom shine. I live in Southern California where women are very superficial and the first thing that attracts them is my car, before they meet the stud inside (Me). Quite sad actually, but I do enjoy the game. Now about the product, designed to protect your wash mitt(s) from collecting dirt at the bottom, it fits perfectly into a 5-gallon bucket with about 1/8 of an inch space at the edges and 2 1/2 inches from the bottom with two wholes to grip onto at the center, which makes it easy to remove. I use the 2-bucket method to wash my vehicle, the 2nd bucket with the Grid Guard Insert is where I rinse, using a white color bucket, which helps me to detect dirt build-up. The Grid Guard is nicely designed and sturdy...very satisfied with my purchase, got mine in black. Check out my other reviews if you're into taking care of your car. I personally, never let anyone wash or detail mine, taking care of it is like therapy.

Can't wash without it! Oct 30, 2010
By Shawn Tedrow This item is great for washing a car. Some people use two Grit Guards but I use only one. If you are using one, and you are using thr two bucket method then place the Grit Guard in the rinse bucket. This is where all the dirt will accumulate. After washing a section, if you see dirt buildup on the mitt, that will not rinse off, rub the mitt against the Grit Guard and all the dirt will fall right out. Great product!

works well Apr 19, 2011
By Lan Phan I was hoping that it would fit in the 5 gallon clear bucket/pail that I bought from Lowes (the opaque white/clear one that has gallon marks on the side). However, the gritguard doesn't go down all the way to the bottom. It's kinda stuck about 6 inches from the bottom. I was a bit disappointing but I guess I'll still be happy to use it since I'm only using it in the rinse bucket.

gimicky Apr 28, 2011
By richard landry takes a while (too long) for dirt to fall down below the Grit Guard. Best to just change the water often.
