holy cow is this thing bright Mar 03, 2010

this thing is a champ...throws well over 150 ft and crisp clean lines at normal hiking sight lines. I use it mostly for late night work when picking up a job site or such (under a porch or in an attic) The unit is great though the addition of Fenix AD401 Headlight Diffuser Lens for L1D, L1T, L2T, L2D, P2D, P3D, LD10, LD20, PD20, PD30 & HP10 Flashlights/Headlamps makes it much more usable in close up situations. I docked a star for having to buy the diffuser seprately..I feel at this price point it should be included. Also a note of caution to those not used to wearing hard hats or heavy lighting...this unit takes 4 batteries...its heavy and noticable...I would not want to run or do any type of jarring exercise in it. for everyday or hiking uses you can't beat it but would not want to be bobbing around with this unit on my head.

Best Headlamp Out To Date Aug 28, 2010

I am an avid night fisherman, And go camping on a regular basis. I have tried many headlamps i have all of black diamonds high end headlamps but none of them even hold a candle to this one. I have been using this for about a year now received it day it was released, All i can say is that with sanyo eneloops combined with this headgear not only will you get the most out of your batteries you'll have the most reliable and brightest headlamp out there. If your looking to buy the best headlamp money can buy as of right now look no further this headlamp wont disappoint.

Amazingly powerful headlamp for a decent price!!! Jul 24, 2010
By Danny N I own a few headlamps and a few flashlights and I gotta say this thing blows all of em away! The hp10 headlamp has 4 settings, low, med, high, and a turbo function which boosts its power to a whopping 225 lumens! It only lasts 3 minutes before it overheats and goes back to the high setting but on only medium, this overpowers all the lights that i own and puts them to shame.
This little headlamp is powered by 4 AA batteries which are easily replaceable and you can find rechargeable ones such as the eneloops which are one of the best at keeping its charge. On the lowest setting, it is low enough to not blind anybody and you can still see a great deal of what you're working with. Also, on the lowest setting, they claim that it lasts more than 200 hours but i'm not gonna run any tests to confirm it so i cant dispute it. Still, this is the brightest light related product i've ever own, and best of all its handsfree!
There are 2 buttons on the top of the headlamp itself. The main middle button is the on/off switch and mode toggle. When u turn on the light, double click the main button to toggle to the flashing modes. The side button is the illumination toggle which toggles from low, med, high, and turbo. It has a memory setting so say if u last use the light on med, when u turn it on again it will be on med. However, if u last used it on turbo mode, when u turn it on again, it will revert back to high which i assume is for battery purposes.
There are 3 types of flashing modes. There are the SOS,warning flash, and a really fast strobe mode that can possibly be used as a self defense tool to disorient a would be assailant. I know it messes up my eyes so it does do a very good job at doing so.
When i first received the product, i was baffled as to how to put on the headstraps but then after paying closer attention, u just slip it thru the cracks and it goes thru. It's not very noob friendly so it may take u a while or a few tries to setup the headlamp. It says it is also waterproof up to 2 meters(6 ft), however im not gonna to test it out as i dont see it neccessary for what i use it for. It would come in handy though if u use it during a rainstorm.
Anyways, its the most powerful headlamp i could find without breaking the bank, compared to a certain brand which sells a 350 lumen headlamp for 430 bucks. So for only 64 bucks, its a killer deal!!
One last thing is that this does NOT come with any batteries or the diffuser accessory.

Performance and Value Oct 05, 2010
By Brand___X This Head lamp is everything I was expecting. After carefully reading all the reviews I made my decision to purchase the Fenix 7 Level 225 Lumen LED Headlamp and the attachable light diffuser. The Fenix 7s multiple function light output has met all my lighting needs and then some. Excellent construction and an easily adjustable headband. I run stairs at night. Because the stairs are located on the edge of the Pacific ocean I have experienced multiple weather conditions such as fog, rain and wind to name a few. The Fenix 7 headlamp is water resistant and highly durable. The Fenix 7s headlamp is fully adjustable to multiple angles. While I am running the lamp never moves it position on its pivot point thus allowing me to safely see the stairs and path I have chosen. I also purchased the light diffuser. It holds securely and once attached you never have to remove it. The light diffuser has a flip open cap. When closed the cap creates a wider swath of light instead of a focused beam. The diffuser really helps in foggy conditions by cutting down on glare. The only CON I have with the product is it did not come with instructions on assembly. Great product for the money!

loved it! Aug 16, 2010
By Discounted Gentleman Loved the head light. I have being looking for one to use for night hiking. The light ware comfortably. (can mess up your hair style but if you love to hike at night you probably not care much about how your hair look then.) Very bright. Best thing: 1. uses AA Battery. I can have many backup batteries and not worry about the light go out. Battery case is simple with big knobs. I can replace battery in the dark if needed. 2. water proof. I don't have to worry about walking in the rain. Body also very solid. 3. perfect brightness in the dark. I find perfect brightness 2nd to last level when hiking in the dark. I used many head lamps before and most of them are not bright enough. Or battery ran low very quickly. Some batteries needed screw drivers to take them out. That doesn't really help when you are in the dark and your battery is out. Which is very common.
