3Nice light, but not what you've come to expect from Fenix ...  Jun 15, 2010
By David Carswell
I just received my Fenix Anglelight.
What I expected: an LD10 in a right-angle format.

Well, the light performs as well as my LD10s: it's bright, has the strobe mode, etc.
Nice things about this light:
1) the case is a bit smaller than I expected, even though I knew how big an LD10 is. It's very compact.
2) the case is festooned with attachment options; it has a very tough removable clip, similar to the one the newer LD10s come with, a small integral loop on the back of the light head that can be used to dangle it, and a large pivoting wire loop just above the right-angle joint.
3)It comes with a flip-up diffuser lens. I bought one for my LD10, but it never fit quite right; the AngleLight has little grooves on the light head that match up with a little raised edge on the inside of the diffuser that allow it to snap on securely. I'm comfortable carrying it in my pocket with the diffuser attached, with no worry of it accidentally coming off. The diffuser is especially handy given the types of applications you'd likely use this light for.
4) The UI is better, IMHO than the LD10 ... I was never wild about twisting the bezel to switch modes; everything is controlled with the button on the AngleLight.

Now, for the downsides ...
1) I have several Fenix LD10s, an LD20, a TK40, and the AAA penlight ... and they are hands down the best lights I have ever owned. Indestructible, and big performance bang for the buck. They all have rugged aluminum bodies. I expected the same from this light ... which leads me to my disappointment: the light is almost entirely made of plastic (ABS?). Only the Part surrounding the reflector assembly is aluminum. This is especially concerning to me given that this light, due to its geometry, will be much more susceptible to stresses that might damage it, not to mention the fact that it has a swivel joint. The build quality is excellent ... it still seems pretty rugged, and is a bit lighter than I expected, so this might not concern you. I, however, thought I was purchasing a virtually indestructible solid aluminum light, and this is not it.
2) Related to #1, but serious enough to warrant it's own number: the tailcap is plastic, and feels about as substantial as a soda bottle top. I have absolutely no doubt that the tailcap will be the weak link.

So, to sum up: compared to your run of the mill light, this model is an excellent light, but if you're contemplating a $50 flashlight, you likely have some idea of what to expect to Fenix, and you may be disappointed.

Fenix, if you're listening: I can live with the plastic body, but I'd pay more for AL. However, the quality of the tailcap is inexcusable ... at least put an extra tailcap in the little spare-parts baggy you provide with your lights ... I'd feel much better about my purchase if I had a spare cap.

5Maybe the only LED flashlight you will need, or use  Mar 23, 2010
By R. Wilhelm "Randy"
My requirements were one AA battery (readily available, I use eneloop), regulated (for consistent long battery life), and small enough to fit in my front jeans pocket (when necessary). But what really makes this flashlight special is it's multi-position angled head so that I can adjust the light to just the right angle. The head makes the flashlight a little bigger than other single AA led flashlights but the head is what makes it more useful for hands free projects.

I already have a Fenix LD20, E01, TK20, two Coleman lanterns and one Dorcy rechargeable flashlight, all with Cree leds, so I knew what to expect. There are many leds out there but in my opinion Cree leds are currently the best. My Maglights with led upgrades don't even compare! (I took the nearly-dead D cells, which produced very weak low level light from my Mags, and put them in the Coleman lanterns with Cree leds and have gotten another 12 or so hours out of the batteries so far!) Fenix has a very nice regulation design to extend the battery life and the flashlights are well built. The three levels of light seem to be about right for reading in the tent (low), setting up camp (med), and an occasional bright spot light (high). You hope never to need the SOS or strobe light, but they are available.

This flashlight did not disappoint and the diffuser works well to quickly switch from spot to flood. You can hang it, clip it, or stand it on end with the head angled at all possitions. The MC-10 is turning out to be the most useful and handy of all of my flashlights. Quality comes at a price but this looks like it will qualify as a lifelong purchase, so it was money well spent.

3Expected too much for a small light  Nov 03, 2011
By A.J.
Based on the reviews here and other places, I think I just expected too much out of this light. For a single AA light, it produces an adequate amount of light. It is fine for clipping to a shirt to read in close quarters or looking for something right around you at camp. Unfortunately the light just doesn't compare to even the weakest of headlamps or any 2 AA LED flashlights. My 2AA LED maglite is light years brighter than this light with a much more useable beam. My biggest hope for this light was to be able to place it on the ground and light areas while working under the sink or car, but again the light output just wasn't enough for my liking. The size is great to throw in the pocket as a secondary light. It's really much smaller than I thought it'd be. Just don't expect to make it your primary light.

5The Most useful flashlight I ever used.  Apr 28, 2010
By Heng Zhou
I have Fenix TK11, and Zebralight h501. This one covers 80% of the job. But the build quality is not as good as others.
I use TK11 for searching in dark, h501 for reading, cooking and overhead in tent. MC11 for everything else.

If you plan to have one light, MC10 is your best choice.
If you plan to have additional backup, h501 is a good pick.

5Very handy Little light  Dec 15, 2009
By jr_Tech
Another "how can it be that bright" flashlight from Fenix. The adjustable head will provide many uses for this light... I intend to use it mostly to illuminate items that I am working on, but it would be very useful for camping and other outdoor activities, and as an emergency light as well. Battery life and brightness levels are quite good.
