5Worth the extra $  Nov 14, 2010
By Slim Pickens
This is the third headlamp I've owned, and probably the last. It's lightweight, sturdy and extremely bright on the highest level. I like the fact that it's waterproof and tough, so I never have to give it a second thought when I'm out in lousy conditions. On the brightest setting I can light up half my yard, and the beam is focused nicely. Mine came with a clip-on diffuser that flips up out of the way when I want a spotlight, or down when I want a softer effect. The tilt mechanism is sturdy, too. It even blinks out S-O-S in morse code, if you get lost in the wilderness.
Another reviewer mentioned that the screw-on battery cap is hard to remove; that's true. It screws down tight, and the O-ring keeps it there, so I try not to over tighten it when I replace the battery. Speaking of battery, it uses a single AA battery... much more convenient than some other headlamps that use multiple AAA batteries.
I have probably a dozen flashlights scattered throughout the house and garage, from 4-D-cell monsters to a very expensive older Surefire E2 Defender; I rarely use any of them any more. Why bother, when these new Cree LED lights produce so much light, with only a single AA battery? Why walk around with a 2 pound aluminum flashlight in one hand when you can be hands-free with this little gem?

5Extremely well made and light weight. Priced right.  Dec 15, 2010

I use this regularly for night trail runs. It throws light well, and is very bright on the high setting. Best headlight I've used so far and I've used many of them, including all the big name brands like Petzl, PrincetonTec, etc. I highly recommend this headlight, you will not be disappointed.

5This thing is awesome.. Wife hates when I wear it but it is awesom  Sep 28, 2010
By Shawn A. Wolfe "Shawn W"

I was looking for some LED headlamps for my wife and I to go on night kayaking trips.. We had looked at REI and found lots of ones that were more expensive but they all lacked a very important feature WATERPROOFING!.

I was very excited to find this one that was IPX-8. Now that is only 2 meters for 30 minutes but if your boat flips and you go in the water you want to make sure when you hit the surface you can still see what he heck is going on.

Now as far as other features for me I found it was very comparable to other headlamps. I will admit the big seller for me was the waterproofing but it has not dissapointed me at all with it's quality. this thing is bright. B-R-I-G-H-T BRIGHT. It has 3 settings and an emergency flash setting. The brightest setting is supposed to go about 70 meters. I did not measure but it will go very far. I usually use the middle setting as it is extremely bright and balances out battery life. I get about 5 hours on a medium setting.

The only thing I do not like is the battery compartment tends to tighten very tight (yes I know it is needed for water tightness) but when I go to switch batteries the design makes it hard for me to get a grip so I have to pop the light out of its plastic harness thing. I am scared it might break the plastic harness thing someday. It has not so just remember to not ratchet the battery cover down.

I love this thing. I use it to work on my car now.. To walk both dogs since both hands are full of leashes lol

1/11/2011 update.. OK Just an update for those people who buy this lamp.. DO NOT REMOVE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY FROM THE PLASTIC SWIVEL MOUNT.. Eventually the arms will break.. Sometimes you might feel you have to remove it because the screw down battery compartment is too tight. Just get some pliers or something to loosen the end cap with it in the "C" style mount. I just broke one of the arms off trying to snap the headlamp back in and the company is in China so I am already dreading the warranty process

5Top of the Line.  Jul 08, 2011

I have used this head lamp for 6-7 months now. Great flashlight for hands free use. I think compared to other head lamps this one is brighter. It provides excelent light. Great for in the house projects, unloading the car at night, or just regular flashlight use. I find it to be confortable, not too heavy that it falls off your head. I also think that the battery lasts a decent amount of time, for a AA. I did notice that the light was begining to seem dimmer after a while, but again it was several hours. I replaced the battery and the brightness came right back. For a cheap AA battery supply you can't go wrong. If I needed two for some reason I would strongly consider buying this one again.

5Great value  May 02, 2011

The use of a single AA battery, and the brightness of the light make it ideal. I have only used it to repair under a sink, but it was perfect.
