An extremely versatile tool Jun 03, 2008
By Geoffrey F. Beneze

I have used mylar "space" blankets for the past 30 years for near innumerable projects. Want to make a solar oven? here's a tool to allow that. Increase the rating on your sleeping bag by 20 degrees (put the mylar INSIDE the bag), I've made emergency ponchos from them while backpacking. Ground cloths, signal devices, sun awnings (in this mode they help provide cooling), insulation for coolers, animal shelters, a lining for an incubator.
They don't have to wait around in your car or "read bag" to find uses! However, I carry them in each vehicle, I have one in each of my various (depending on purpose) "ready bags", in emergency kits made for the kids and in all the first aid kits in the house, vehicles, the ranch and other such haunts.
This little piece of plastic may well be one of the premier tools of all time.

great window covers Jun 22, 2009
By C. Santiago I bought these to cover the windows on an enclosed south facing porch during the summer. I cut them to size and applied with packing tape around the frames. They definitely lower the temp in that room, although it still gets very warm in there at least now it's tolerable. They do block a bit of the sunlight, I'd say around 25% lower light in the room but it's worth it. These are strong and won't tear until you cut them, then they tear very easily once even a tiny cut is started. I'll also be stashing some of these in the car and my backpack. They're extremely compact and lightweight and economical. Each comes in its own little ziploc bag and you could easily fit two or three of them in the back pocket of your jeans.

Toasty & Warm Jan 13, 2007

We purchased these blankets to keep in the car for emergencies. Thankfully we haven't had to use them. We also used them to line our rescued black lab's dog house for added warmth in our N.E. PA. home. We then used it to make a shelter for some free range kitty's that took up residence on our porch. We lined a box with the blankets. The kitty's are nice and toastie. This is a great product at a great price !!!!

Emergency Mylar Blanket - SMALLER THAN ADVERTISED Aug 21, 2010
By Skip W. THIS ITEM IS NOT AS ADVERTISED..!! Each blanket is SMALLER than advertised in overall square foot coverage. It is advertised in a number of areas as being 62" x 82" per blanket. However, it is plainly noted on the package that it is 52" x 84" and that is also the measured size. I did not receive the size I ordered, otherwise they appear to be very nice, strong, sturdy emergency blankets.
While a number of vendors appear to carry these blankets, the 12 blankets I ordered and received were from Medical Products Depot, Merchant SKU: DKL 721X12. Each blanket is packaged in a separate package measuring about 4.5" x 2.75" x 1" and they can be compressed smaller than that. The order was delivered ahead of schedule. It also irks me that the ones I purchased that were smaller than advertised were also several $$ more expensive than the ones currently being sold at Amazon. So I got less and paid more.. Guess it was my day to be the bug instead of the windshield..
Note to future buyers, efforts to refold these blankets and reinsert them back into their individual shipping bag will probably prove futile.. But, as packaged they are compact, very light weight, and should be available for decades to be used as recommended. If the size difference doesn't bother you, I'd certainly recommend these blankets to others.

BOGUS Sep 10, 2010
By Guy No zero star rating available? Too bad...
Listing calls this a 62" X 82" Mylar blanket.
I note,upon arrival, that the packaging says 54" X 84" polyester.
I use the listing info to make my buying decisions.
Please, use enough care to be accurate.
