4Back To The Basics  Feb 08, 2009
By A. L. MCNEAL
I was very skeptical when I ordered this from Polsteins Home & Beyond. But I kept in contact by phone and it eased my concerns. They were out and it took at least a month to get. It is heavily hot dipped galvanized for rust protection plus the joints are sealed with a strong clear epoxy. It arrived with minor dings that can be easily fixed by lightly hammering out. I filled it to the rim with water and let it set all day, no leaks. It has a handle on each side for easy carrying. I should warn you that the tub does have some rough spots of built up galvinize in and around but sanding will take care of this.
I gave it a 4star for the build up of galvinization and time in arrival with cosmetic blemishes. I looked thoroughly thru the internet for a tub that would hold an adult for camping, cabin, or emergencies. This is by far the biggest and easiest to handle. Definately heavy duty. I would highly recommend this. I do suggest coating the entire tub with a clear epoxy that sticks to metal just to help smooth it out and extra coating. But it will work as is. However the time it took to get it I do want to preserve it for rugged use.

5Concerned About Bathing During Prolonged Power Outages?  Feb 10, 2011
By GhillieMan "GhillieMan"
Those "birdbaths" using those sealed wash towels are okay in a short-term emergency or while during field operations for personal hygiene.

But do you think your wife and family will want to take birdbaths during an extended time period?

THIS is the galvanized wash tub to own in preparation and for use during a prolonged critical incident which you can not take showers or baths in your traditional bath tub or shower.

So you have one of those hang-up emergency shower bags to use just in case, eh?

Are you going to use that during the winter time outside? That might be a bit cold--and shrink something causing you to loose your reputation.

Or you can hang the shower bag inside your home over your bath tub to use it when the electric is out? That may work as long as your dirty water is going down the drain and outside of your home.

But for sure, dirty water in this wash tub can simply be poured outside on the ground when you're done.

All you need is soap and fresh water and this tub to take your bath. And a privacy area for females to bath in.

This wash tub did not leak. No dents either. Although shipping was understandably high because of its size, it was sent protected and through more careful handling through FedEx by Vanguard Wholesale.

I'm 5 foot 10 and 180 pounds of Dark Chocolate. I was able to get into this wash tub in a comfortable bathing position.

We considered plastic tubs for emergency bathing purposes, but, for the price, none will hold up as good as a metal wash tub. This wash tub was made for moderate-to-heavy-duty, long-term use.

So forget the birdbaths.

Get this large wash tub for your wife. There are benefits in it for you, too.

Do what I did: I told my wife "I'll stand on duty AT ATTENTION while you bath." :)
