Great laundry booster Oct 08, 2010
By Gordon M. Wagner I bought a case of six boxes of this from the manufacturer to get free shipping -- I use about 1/4 cup in my laundry with a little Borax and a TINY bit of laundry detergent. I'm surprised and pleased to find that even my oldest towels smell CLEAN and FRESH where before, even with line-drying outdoors in the sun, they smelled old and kind of sour. Where have they been hiding this stuff? It's great, worth every penny. Very highly recommended!

White towels white! Sep 14, 2011
By Catherine I was having trouble with my white towels getting yellow, blotchy stains. For years, I could not figure it out. Nothing worked. Finally... using a 1 to 1 ratio, I mixed one cup of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda with one cup of 20 Mule Team Borax. I then added about three tablespoons of this mixture, along with a little bit of my regular detergent, per washing load, and "Voila" my towels were white. They smelled fresh and felt great! This mixture probably neutralized my water enough to release the stains. For a great price, you'll find this at all Walmarts ~~right next to the 20 Mule Team Borax. (I thank my daughter for the terrific idea...I now use it all the time.) My husband is the only one disappointed...he no longer has towels in his rag bag.

Good for homemade laundry soap ingredient Jul 20, 2011

It's just baking soda on steroids. But unlike baking soda, this stuff is sodium carbonate, which has one atom instead of two, making it harsher than baking soda. So, don't eat it like you can do with baking soda, just clean with it. One thing I have noticed about washing soda as opposed to baking soda is it's much less powdery and dusty compared to baking soda.. That I really like.
I recently discovered the joys of making and having my own laundry soap. Having this substance is essential for that process. It's also good as a non-toxic substitute for making other cleansers and as a laundry additive. It's especially helpful for those of us that live in hard water areas, because it helps to change polarity and keep hard water from staining and causing damage.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of using all those toxic cleansers. I don't even use chlorine bleach anymore.
Those of you on here griping about the price of things when you write a review on a product are off-topic.

Great Jewelry Cleaner Nov 21, 2010

I used this product with boiling water and an electrolytic plate to clean a heavily oxidized sterling silver chain. I had oxidized the chain on purpose using liver of sulphur...my husband changed his mind about the chain. I was furious but figured I'd give this a try. After 7 or 8 rounds of putting the jewelry on the electrolytic plate in a glass dish...pouring washing soda all over the chain to cover it...then adding boiling water..it finally came clean. Baking soda simply doesn't do what the washing soda can.

Too expensive here Jan 01, 2010
By M. Ilene Jones Just call your local grocery store and ask them to order a case of this for you. I got a case of 12 boxes for $35 that way.
It's a great product, and when combined with P&G soap and borax does a good job getting clothes clean, but paying this much, or even a lesser price plus shipping, for your ingredients negates any savings you might have achieved by making your own.
