I purchased this unit for emergency use along with a Reliance Controls transfer switch. I specifically wanted propane because it's clean, widely available, and there aren't any issues with long term storage like you have with gasoline. The unit is somewhat finicky starting cold, but runs great, and puts out plenty of power for our refrigerator, chest freezer, washer, and other small loads like lights, fans, and a TV. I would highly recommend this unit for emergency power. The multi-function meter is also very nice; It shows elapsed run time (hours), frequency (Hz), and voltage. The unit is heavy, but it is a 5KW generator after all. With the wheel kit and folding handle, it's still quite portable, and can be run from your BBQ propane tank, or the 100lb propane tanks for extended time. I've only owned it a short time, but so far I'm impressed. The 3 star rating is only because of the cold start issue, but I'm working with a factory tech to resolve the problem. Also, unlike some other electric start generators, this one comes with the battery included. It also includes an oil filling funnel, spark plug socket wrench, and reasonbly nice manual. The vendor tells me it actually carries a 2-year warranty. The literature says 1-year, but they claim the literature has just not been updated.

Major reason I like this Genset is that Propane will last 5-10 years in a tank. Gasoline Generators especially now with Ethanol in them go sour in 3 months time with lack of use. Been there done with that now that they put ethanol in all the gasoline products. [You can find this unit cheaper on the Internet if you look.] Great size for Contractors, RV , Camping or Emergency use. I would also invest in a 100lb tank that you can get filled at most RV places KOA or Truck stops. Tall 100lb tank easiest use for emergency will last 5 days without refill. The 20 lbs tanks are great for contractor use & easily stored in an outside shed. JMHO

Bought this generator from Costco at great price. Receieved item in good shape, followed the instruction on setup connected the propane and started unit on first try. I connnected to a 4KW Load for 10 to test and genorator ran great. I called factory to see about converting to Nat Gas, phone was answered quickly and I spoke to knowledgeable Rep whom told me factory doesn't offer this conversion but I could find kits avaiable on the internet. So far everything is working well. I especally like the $500 savings in my pocket.

This generator is an outstanding value. I bought this unit to run my 28 ft camper and it handles all my needs without any problems.
It appears to be well designed & constructed with all components well finished and feeling very sturdy. It does not appear "cheap" in any way. Mine arrived well packaged, in perfect condition (new) and was very easy to assemble. The comments about cold starting are true but it just takes a little practice. The trick is to modulate the choke while starting. Once you get the hang of it - it starts right up. Love the electric starter. It's a little louder than I expected but a longer extension cord resolves that. Note that this thing is quite heavy. Thankfully its easy to move (with the wheel kit). I particularly like the multifunction meter so you can track usage hours for maintenance. As noted in another review it DOES include a 2 year warranty. The icing on the cake is never having to worry about fuel gumming up the carb like in a gasoline powered unit. I anticipate this unit lasting for a long time.
I strongly prefer Amazon over eBay but the price is much better on eBay - yes from a very reputable, factory authorized, vendor. Mine arrived in 4 days under standard shipping and I saved more than $100. Whats not to like??? Good luck.
